This Single Vineyard wine is sourced from the 'Martingale Estate' on a north facing vineyard sitting on 40 of the finest acres in the Yarra Valley. The estate sits in the undulating hills of the Gruyere, at the foothills of the Yarra Ranges.

Taste Notes

Oro

A unique flower, the Orchid Cactus, is featured on our OPM Chardonnay, and reveals itself in the sequential steps of ‘Oro, Plata, Mata’. Its raw and fragile beauty blossoms ever so gently, with the flower’s grand reveal corresponding to ‘Mata’ or ‘Chance’.

The idea of peeling back or shedding layers to reveal the truest nature of something is universal, both in the plant and animal kingdom - and in the human psyche.

Plata

Shaped like a majestic waterlily, this 'Queen of the Night' rarely blooms and if you're lucky enough to witness, flowers between dusk and dawn.

The metaphor of Mata is embodied by the 'Queen of the Night' and is a beautiful symbol of our vintage wine, as the saying goes "Good things, comes to those who wait!".

Mata

In Filipino popular culture Oro or "Gold" and Plata or "Silver" is the desired object of a counting game, with Mata or "Death" in the context of "Chance" to be avoided.

Dig a little deeper and Mata is spiritually more connected with the meaning of "Harvest", as in what the season's harvest gave to man, by way of crops for his toil.
